I have the best family! My mom and dad met in college and were married five years before they had me. When my mom was expecting me, she was told I wouldn’t survive so the doctors recommended that she should abort me. Because of her strong faith, she knew she’d have to carry me to term and let God be in control. God saw fit for me to not only survive the pregnancy but be born healthy and strong. I thank God for His kindness and for my parents’ bravery!
When I was little, I was slow to speak. I said my first word at 18 months and couldn't put a sentence together till 28 months. My mom sought speech therapy for me when I was in preschool. Both of my parents continue today to encourage me in my speech and most people don’t know I struggled in the past. Again, I’m grateful to my parents for continually working with me and encouraging me!
When I was just two and a half, my awesome little brother joined the family. Today he’s 13 years old and one of my best friends. He loves baseball and we love to debate which sport is better: softball or baseball. Um…softball, obviously!
Speaking of softball. I have loved the sport since I was 5. Really, it’s all thanks to my dad for signing me up for Great Falls Little League! When I was 9, I told my dad I wanted to learn to pitch. He was a baseball pitcher in high school, but he didn’t know a thing about softball pitching. That didn’t stop him! He sacrificed many hours teaching himself how softball pitching works so he could instruct me. Later, when I was ready for more instruction, he found great coaches for me. He even drove me 3.5 hours to see one pitching coach! I’m amazed by how much support my parents both give me. I wouldn’t be who I am today without my family. They sacrifice for me and encourage me in everything I do.
